About Me

My Name is kristan and I am a queer, non-binary Registered Social Worker in the Province of Ontario. I graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2015 with my Masters of Social Work degree.

The majority of my professional career has been in providing telephonic counselling support. I have spent several years as a crisis counsellor and several years providing multi-session, short-term counselling over the telephone to a wide-variety of clientele. I work from a person-centered, holistic approach that acknowledges our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual selves.

I know first-hand the challenge that it can be to share vulnerable parts of yourself with another person. In sessions I aim to create a supportive, warm, and non-judgmental space where we can explore your experiences and emotions in whatever way feels best for you. We all have different safety and sensory requirements, if there is anything I can do to try and create a safer space for you please let me know.

My professional practice is deeply influenced by my lived experiences as a queer person with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. Individual therapy and group therapy have been key components of my healing journey.

When I’m not working you’ll probably find me with my dog Bailey (who has been known to make appearances in sessions from time to time) at our home in Toronto. Some of my favourite things are museums, dogs, beach days, nature time, the Halloween season, and a good cup of coffee.
